Bruno is doing well.  I won’t dignify that movie by finding that little u with the dots on the character map, though.  I made that mistake in the title.  I’m sitting in the theater and all of the sudden a naked man on a white screen appears and his member starts dancing around without the aid of any helping device.  That is as PC as I can make it.  Anyway, teen to twenty-something men and women start laughing, some hysterically.  I felt like I was in The Twilight Zone. At that moment I couldn’t think of one thing on the face of the Earth that was less funny than a naked body part dancing around on screen.  I closed my eyes.  After watching it, it is mind boggling that some…

A:  Are surprised when others are extremely uncomfortable watching it, and
B:  Think that if someone else is uncomfotable, that makes them homophobic

The second point has been a popular point of discussion on internet comment boards for stories related to the movie.  There was a time when Bruno wouldn’t have even made it to theaters, and it wasn’t all that long ago.  Question is what happened between then and now?  Actually, that question is trivial when compared with the societal backlash that supporters of Cohen’s caricatures use as their go-to weapon against naysayers: if you don’t like Bruno, you must be homophobic.

If that makes me homophobic, whatever.  I have friends and family that could vouch otherwise.  Wait though… old-fashioned?  Was this how my parents felt when I used to buy Limp Bizkit albums?  Did I just admit to that?  Maybe, but I would argue that it may be as simple as this: I just don’t like ***** that are taller than me, even on a movie screen.  Size might matter, but lets keep them within 5′11″.

Was there a message behind the movie?  Yes.  Was it a noble one?  Perhaps.  Was it lost to many by the way Cohen decided to go about delivering it?  Absolutely!

Seriously, the movie was terrible.  If you like comedy at its lowest common denominator, it gets no lower.  If smart comedy is your thing, don’t waste your money.  You won’t fire one brain cell watching this clown.
